RIdley Scott for Chanel

Id seen this commercial before on youtube and really didnt give much of a shit besides liking her crazy white lady / tranny talk of "I am made of blue sky and golden light and I will feel this way for EVA!" I will say that in the mirror as I put on facial moisturizer today for sure though, in a crazy tranny voice and then giggle to myself like a crazy person.
For those of you who dont know who Ridley Scott is he did Alien, and Blade runner and Legend and Thema and Louise... for him this commercial is sort of a let down for me. He usually uses the air as a space, meaning he fills it with smoke or dust or steam or flower petals but this time I guess he went for serenity. I still give it a 7 out of 10 for just the crazy lady talk and it sounding like Leonard Nimoy at the end.

I would love to art direct perfume commercials. If you have any interest in them this is sorta interesting seeing how much work goes into a 30 second spot. The way the narrator talks about it is pretty OTT. I have to be honest though, if I spent that much money on a commercial and all I got was that Id be PISSED. I mean I didnt even bother posting the commercial because its just boring... I mean if I was gonna pay for Ridley Scott to direct my perfume "GLORIOUS HORRIFYING GODDESS", which I will make at some point in my life, Id rather spent 100,000 on make up, costumes, and PRAYING MANTISES before I spent it on cloning a pool.... but what do I know.

Did the swimmer disappear into her vagina?

Did it vaporize or just store him?

The narrator of the "Making of" video is definitely overthinking it.

Reminds me of Maya Angelou for Penzoil, Fruit Loops and Butterfinger, via David Alan Grier.

I for one, would love to see what you would do with a Chanel No.5 spot on TV.

I used to love watching this commercial too. I can't remember if I read this bit of info on your blog or on pinkandwrinkly, but that Ryuichi Sakamoto did the music. I'm a huge David Sylvian fan and so finding out that Ryuichi (who has collaborated with David Sylvian) did the music - was kinda awesome...
