OK, so like Grace, Im back with a vengeance.

I had originally bought the ticket to L.A as a vacation before I knew I was gonna buy a ticket to Spain so I really had no reason to be in L.A this time which actually turned out to be a good thing because it got me to see L.A in a more "real" sense as every other time Im there Im working and the weather is SHITTY in NYC so Im always going on about how much better L.A is then NYC but now I realize when the weather is nice, if that is ever going to happen, that I prefer NYC to LA for the months of July to December and Im embarrassed to say now that NYC has the Haunted Mansion gym Im A LOT happier.
Ok so all I had to do was see Grace at the Hollywood Bowl, which Id never been to, and to be honest I was just more excited at being at the event itself and seeing a lot of friends and the looks, and really wasnt so excited about the performance as Ive seen Grace a few times and usually it was just sorta RAMSHACKLE, ya know like her running around in an Issey Miyake fiber glass bustier etc etc etc, EXCEPT for the one time she STUCK HER CORDLESS MIC DOWN MY THROAT AND SANG " LA VIE EN ROSE" THROUGH ME AS I WAS HER PERSONAL MIC STAND?!?!?!.... SWEAR TO GOD IT HAPPENED!!! AND IT WAS ONE OF THE KINDEST GESTURES THE GODS HAD EVER BESTOWED UPON ME!!!... so I wasnt all that excited about this performance as I had already had an experience that was as good as it gets and to be honest, even though Im a huge fan, wasnt expecting anything that fresh. I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WORNG.. The concert was FIERCE!?! She did a costume change for almost EVERY SONG?!?! And not like shitty old looks either, I mean the Issey Miyake bustier is FIERCE, dont get me wrong, but Ive also seen her wear it like 5 times soo... These looks were WELL THOUGHT OUT and CLEVER. All the looks had a hat by Philip Treacy to match, who she said was in the audience along with HER MOTHER?! I think my favorite look was the opening look which was sorta like Tina turners Aunty Entity look from Beyond the Thunderdome combined with TRON but ALL NEW. My second favorite look was the " La Vie en rose" look which my friend Jennifer, a genetic female, CRIED OVER?! It was like this spikey origami ball gown but then like 75% of the way through the song she revealed that the dress was almost like a movie set and was just a "front" so when she spun around the entire back was gone exposing her NAKED AUBERGINE BODY?! WERK?!?!?! There were a lot of great moments even a couple where My friends and i had to look at each other in the eye to be sure that IT WAS NOT A DREAM?! She came out with a ROBOT MANNEQUIN DOLL THING and sang and danced "Libertango" with it?!?!?! WHAAA??? The look I liked the least you would THINK id like the best, but I DID NOT. It was best described as "FETISH OCTOPUS" which SOUNDS GREAT but I honestly feel like "standard fetish" is beneath Grace. I mean she doesnt need to wear SHINY BLACK ANYTHING because she ALREADY IS shiny black EVERYTHING, so for her to wear vinyl its just lost on her....
I was so impressed, her voice was GREAT?! Everyone at the bowl seemed to have a great time. I think a crowd of 14,000 people to see Grace is pretty damngood?!
Its 5:21 in the morning I have to get to the gym... Enjoy the clips, you get to see the "reveal" in the "La vie en rose" one. If youre in NYc this Thursday I HIGHLY recommend going to see it!!! I think Im gonna buy a ticket and go again!!!

She is definitely fierce and in such great shape for 61! But hey, look at Tina Turner still "rollin' down the river" at nearly 70!!! Age is so irrelevant these days!

I am so glad that you had a great time! For a while there I thought Grace had abducted you... Now there is an interesting thought!

Just listening to Grace Jones re-voice La Vie en Rose takes me back to such a radical time... gawd, how the underground seems so comparatively unadventurous these days... perhaps even non-existent.
She really was (and remains) a touchstone for far-outness.

Meanwhile, somehow I think she knows you were there for her :)

It's my first post on this blog.. Cos' normally I only check the artblogs (feel free to check mine if you feel like it:p)

But enough disgusting self-promotion; That saying about "fierce black everything" is going on my facebook homepage. I'm taking the first step to make it legendary. It's just that good :D

Grace watch over us...

Oh, I'm sorry if I offended you, I didn't think about that :s

I thought it was more of an underground aesthetics blog, what with the eighties music videos and roid kinkness.. But with your posts about your designs and hats, I should've gotten that!

Again, I'm sorry if I demeaned you, it certainly wasn't my purpose!
