John Hughes died in NYC today during a morning walk :(

Ok I dont feel anything because I dont even know what the dude looked like, but he did manage to turn out WEIRD SCIENCE.. Which I LIVED FOR as a BABY GAY, and in his others films he really did a great job of documenting the 80s and I feel had a REALLY GOOD sense for the proper songs for his films.. Yello, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Altered Images... all genius choices..
I dont even need to get into Kelly Lebrock as Lisa do I? I mean c'mon.....If you dont love her in Weird Science STOP READING MY BLOG NOW?!?!
So in the immortal words of Lisa ..."Partys Ovah!" Thank you John Hughes...

Very sad he did some of the best teenfilms, 16candles and Breakfast club god cant say how many times i have watched those. He made it ok to be an outsider as a kid growing up.

He was so young and yet keeled over from a heart attack. I just don't get that. I need to know more. Wasn't he taking care of himself? Had he put on lots of weight? Did he have a congenital condition? It is so frustrating when young people die like this and you don't know more and can't find out details. Especially when they are uber talented!

Lived for this quote after the 1st time I heard it..

You know, there's going to be sex, drugs, rock-n-roll... chips, dips, chains, whips... You know, your basic high school orgy type of thing. I mean, uh, I'm not talking candle wax on the nipples, or witchcraft or anything like that, no, no, no. Just a couple of hundred kids running around in their underwear, acting like complete animals.

That said though.. when the mutant biker dudes' girlfriend (Halle Berry-ish looking chic) goes into apology mode and on exiting says.. 'You have a really nice house.. " or something.. I just DIED!!

John Hughes was the voice of a generation.

Easily one of the best comic filmmakers of all time. BREAKFAST CLUB, FERRIS BUELLER and WEIRD SCIENCE are my favorites, plus the script he wrote for the original VACATION.

I regret that he retired from writing and directing at such an early age. I must admit, his death is easier to bear knowing that he wasn't willing to make more comedies anyway.

But it's just as important a loss to white Americans who grew up in the '80s as Michael Jackson.

A part of us all died.

I, too, memorized Kelly LeBrock's "chips, dips, chains, whips" monologue long ago.
