I was JUST talking about this scene with a friend and it turned up on a friends fb page from Australia....

I didnt know it was known around the globe! I always liked her so much and was sorta heart broken when she died of cancer. Madeline Kahn rulz. Its funny, this isnt like the funniest moment on film or anything but somehow, her delivery, the little nuances, like I talked about in the earlier post, just hook into you for a life time. Thank you Madeline, you were understatedly fierce.

lol David - anything Madeline Kahn was in made it better. Don't forget her debut on film as Eunice Burns in What's Up Doc? ;)

i love it when they ask what her husband does and she says "oh you know, just lies around on his back all day." also, her performance in young frankenstein: when she gets fucked by the monster and sings "oh sweet mystery of life at last i've found you". or in blazing saddles when she does the number about how exhausting it is to be a whore. all i can say to madeline kahn is YES.
"would you like another schnitzengruben?"

It was one of my favorite film moments as a kid too (in Australia). The film was released here, though the game and film were titled "Cluedo".

Didn't Madeline make her film debut in Bogdonavich's Paper Moon playing Miss Trixy Delight?

Dave- disregard the earlier post, What's Up Doc was earlier than paper Moon, my mistake.

Hey there, a voice from the netherworld. I've ready your blog for a year and this is the first time I've decided to comment.

Did you know that Ms. Kahn ad-libbed that entire scene?? Indeed true. The director loved it so much that he decided to use her ad-lib in the movie. I f*ckin' love her. The best series of quotes in the movie!!

She deserved so much more credit for her comedic genius! Eunice Burns was a complete fabulous character creation. Could not love her more. Thanks for posting the clip!

Madeline Kahn and this movie in particular are very near and dear to my heart.

I have practically the whole thing memorized, as did EVERY MEMBER of EVERY AMERICAN DRAMA CLUB from my generation!

The shows of Madeline Kahn -- and indeed CLUE's director Jonathan Lynn (YES, MINISTER) -- formed some very core components of my identity.

It was really THAT necessary, Mrs. White.
