Does anyone read this blog anymore? I feel like blogs are sorta dead? I don't even check them anymore.

Write a comment if you do. I honestly don't even know if anyone reads it anymore. My Tumblr page gets so much more action. If you do check this still let me know and I'll get back to writing and posting. Otherwise I don't wanna waste my time, though I do actually like writing and I should anyways because its therapeutic.

I personally do read it and love it and probably went about 3 years backwards because there was nothing new coming up .what u write is mind altering interesting and puts stuff in completely different perspective - what is totally needed . To be honest I kinda wait for your new entries like I used to wait for new episodes of drag race so PLEASE dont stop writing

I'm french and I read your blog every day. C'est une référence puisque tout le monde en parle. One day you posted a picture of the man who writes things Noodles and Beef, he was so happy....

I'd be sorry to see your blog end, as some of your posts have been epic and I do keep checking for any new thoughts from you, but if you feel like stopping writting, that's OK. It's your blog, isn't it?

RJ said...

Yup! Still enjoying it. You are right though, my Tumblr has more hits than my blog any day. People don't want to read anymore, just scroll through pics.

Joel said...

I check it every day in case you've written something- you write so well! I also use the links. Of course I look at your more active tumblr daily too- love it but it's only pics and no rants.

I have you on my Feedly reader, which was my Google Reader, and yes, I read most of your posts and I follow your Tumblr. I like your posts and what you have to say. I agree with most everything and I find it an interesting peek into the mind of someone else. We are the same age, we like the same things, we grew up in the same genre, we are both gay, so a lot of what you say hits home or strikes me as funny. Knowing who Clause Nomi is, loving Grace Jones, crazy 80s styles… you bring out great ideas and quirky things from the past. I like your rants and how your thoughts flow from one thing to the next, my partner thinks this way too. For the most part, I don’t comment on your posts, unless something really hits home or I've got time on my hands. I've written several comments that I never get to complete because I’m a scatter brain and I think, no one will ever understand this and I’m making a fool of myself. Sometimes I’m thinking in my head, sarcastic things to say, but I don’t say them because sarcasm gets lost in text. Like the other day I wanted to comment on your blonde hair, Susan Powter, but I didn't want to start any insanity.
I started reading your blog because of a post about a small guy on the subway being bullied by bigger guys, and that you stood up for him. I was the small guy for years, but now I’m the big guy and I like to stand up for other guys.

BOY STOP. This is not just a blog it a way for you to speak your thoughts out loud in the "stream of conscious" kinda way. It is kinda like performance art. Keep the visual for the tumblr cuz its hot right now. But speaking your mind never gets old.

I read every day through feedly!

I still read it. I think you have an interesting perspective and a voice that needs to be heard. If you don't want to blog, maybe you should consider writing in another forum--fashion zine, OUT, MEN, Butt (are they still publishing?) You could probably even turn some of your blog entries into articles or essays.

Dave.....I check your blog everyday for your refreshing and your often "off center with reality" stories and remarks.....Joe

I always check in with your blog...and traffic is down because there hasn't be anything new for a long time...I caulked it up to travel or work. Keep writing if even only once a week. You have an interesting way of looking at life and there are not many original voices still online. As for tumblr - well everyone has moved on and it is so much easier. Everyone is capturing everyone else's images and posting. It will soon feel like masturbation -- nothing wrong with the act but not much original in that.

I am fascinated and learn so much from your cultural analysis and sensibility. Since you like the 'odd'. I wish before you do sign off. Explain "Justified and Ancient, Stand by Your Jam" from The White Room 1991 KLF. I mean the videos makes me so happy. Tammy Wynette sailing to Mu Mu Land? Rap singers, Mystic Gods, What did Tammy think Memphis would think of her,
This video takes me out of any blue funk. I have no idea what you would think of the video.

Of course we read it.

You have a great writing style and are witty and creative.

Please keep it up.

I keep checking every day for the occasional long-form writing which is always insightful and often funny. I still send people to read "Your life coach is a hooker".

Hi. We're friends on Facebook. I check your blog at least once per week, hoping for a new entry. By the way, as people become more aware of social-media privacy and surveillance issues, blogs will enjoy a revival, and those who stick it out during the current lull will be rewarded.

Lex said...

Yeah - please don't stop - your posts are fascinating.

And thank you for them.

Wherever you go, Dave, I will follow. You and I DO NOT think alike, but that's the magic that you bring. I subscribe to lots and lots (hundreds, really), of RSS feeds. If I had to get rid of all but three, yours would be one of the ones that I would keep.
Yes, sometimes I DO wish that you'd learn how to break up paragraphs into bite-sized chunks (makes it easier to keep reading, rather than getting lost partway through). Big deal. That's the only complaint.
Otherwise, your writing is BRILLIANT, perceptive, real, passionate, authentic, and out on an edge that I can only aspire toward reaching. We are following you because you are living full-out in ways that 99.9999% of humanity wishes that they could.
No apologies.
No settling for less.
No stopping, please.
If not speaking out here, then please do it someplace where we can track you down easily. Your voice is important.
I love your garments, too, though I only have two of them in my possession. Your gear isn't necessarily designed for those of us who are of, ahem, "Heroic Proportions". That's okay. I came for the products, but stayed for the viewpoint.

Hi David,

I’m glad to see you’ll keep writing. What I like most about your blog are your thoughts/insights. Some of my favourite topics have been:

-The ‘gold chain’ moment,

-Why gay men are more masculine than they think they are,

-The pumpkin path vs. jack-o-lantern path,

-Why women sometimes aren’t such great friends to gay men.

Thank you for your blog and I look forward to more gems.

It would be beyond tragedy for you to stop. RPDR commentary alone makes this blog one of the best places online. Your commentary, personal musings and insights make it essential reading and an important document of life in NYC! Keep writing.

What would I do without my Dave-blog? You're right -- it is therapy. I keep doing it, even though I only have 1/100th the number of followers as you because it's good for me to work things out this way instead of go nuts.

You need to write. You know you do. Please don't stop.
